A Smart Upgrade to an Existing Conservatory

Vision Conservatory Roofs transformed this existing Edwardian-style conservatory in Eastbourne with a new solid tiled roof, creating a much cleaner finish both inside and out.

The new hipped roof has been finished with dark slate-effect tiles and two integrated rooflights, giving the conservatory a more permanent appearance while still bringing daylight into the room below.

The shape of the existing conservatory made the external detailing particularly important, with the new roof carefully formed around the adjoining property and neighbouring rooflines.

Creating a More Finished Living Space

The original conservatory already benefited from plenty of glazing, but upgrading the roof provided an opportunity to make the space feel more like part of the main home.

Vision installed a lightweight solid roof system with a traditional hipped design that suits the rectangular Edwardian-style conservatory beneath it.

Two rooflights were incorporated into the tiled roof, providing additional light from above without compromising the clean external appearance.

Internally, the new roof was fully plastered to create a smooth ceiling, with recessed spotlights positioned throughout. The simple ceiling finish completely changes the character of the room, replacing the typical conservatory roof appearance with something much closer to a conventional living space.

Designed Around the Existing Property

One of the standout elements of this project is how neatly the new roof works with the surrounding building.

The conservatory sits between several existing roof sections, so the hips, junctions and tiled areas needed to be carefully finished to create a tidy result from every angle.

Dark slate-effect tiles provide a smart contrast against the white conservatory frames while also complementing the surrounding roofs.
